I had high hopes for 2021…but it proved to be not as expected. Many plans cancelled and rescheduled. That seemed to be the theme of the year. However, one GREAT thing about 2021 was that we were lucky to move into our first home of our very own! Which was an adventure in itself. But also – I have grown fond of being forced to hang out with our little family more. And we haven’t killed each other yet. So that is a a big plus! In the photography world – not A LOT happened this year. I was happy to be able to offer my annual mini sessions in the Fall. But other than that – pretty quiet for K Photo and Design.

Thanks so much for hanging out with me!! At this time I’m putting a little pause on things while this lovely pandemic has gone a little crazy. But hoping to get my camera back out this Spring – so feel free to drop me a line!! Any previous clients can always order more digital images, prints or products (for contactless pick up). Stay safe out there!! And wishing you all the best for 2022!!! 🙂

So happy to finally meet up with this family. We were supposed to do this last year (to keep up the tradition of a family photo every second year)…but life just got in the way. Which brings us to fall 2019. The family has changed a bit with the passing of an old dog – and the addition of a new pup. And even though we were a year past due for our photos – she was still VERY puppy-like. I was quite glad we were able to wrestle the two fur babies into a family pose. And I swear – there was NO Photoshop magic involved in this photo. With the doggies tucked away back at the truck…we were able to take in some of the amazing spots at Mer Bleu. You could not have asked for a better day. Beautiful AND colourful.

As we were nearing the end of the session – I asked this boy how many smiles he had. He informed me he only 3. So I guess I had seen them all at that point. Haha! His Dad on the other hand had 38. And Mom – a whopping 67!! I am going to have to employ this kid as my assistant. That definitely got some good smiles from Mom and Dad. 😀

Well, I obviously couldn’t decide on a FEW photos to share. Haha! Anyways…that marks the end of the Fall season for 2019. But I am always taking on newborn/babies or small events. And if we get a warmer day – I LOVE outdoor Winter family photos. If you are interested in booking your own portrait session – you can contact me here: info@k-photo.ca

I guess you could say things have been a little crazy around the house the last little bit.  We decided it was time to have a little floof join our family.  So back the beginning of May we welcomed our little Ophelia.  She is such a beautiful, elegant 8 week old Chocolate point Siamese kitty – but don’t let that fool you.  She is a GOOF!! Not sure if I could pick a favourite thing about this baby girl.  I love when she takes over my pillow and sleeps on my head.  I love when you’re trying to scold her and then she gives you the head tilt “but I’m so cute” look.  She is just oh so helpful with everything from unloading the dishwasher, folding laundry, making the bed, putting away the groceries.  Haha!  But actually…one of my FAVOURITE things is when she falls asleep with her tongue hanging out. That’s how you know it’s a good nap.

After she had designated herself as the Queen of the house, we thought what better time to add ANOTHER floof! Welcome Miss Ellie.  (Or if I wanted to type out her full name: Lady Eleanor Wigglefloof of the Squishybeans)  She was a little rescue kitty I fell in love with over Facebook, of all things.  She was left abandoned out by a farm along with a sister and 2 deceased brothers.  We brought her home when she was roughly 8 weeks old…and at this point it was clear – she needed to be taught how to do kitty things.  First of all – the litter box situation was not up to Ophelia’s standards.  She would stand there and monitor Miss Ellie.  And then go in and cover everything when she was done. Even drinking her water was not something our little Miss Ellie learned before coming to our home.  She would slurp.  It was the funniest thing to watch!  But it wasn’t long before she was doing all the kitty things.

Now don’t get me wrong…it was a bit of a transition period trying to introduce the two of ’em.  Ophelia was a little TOO excited to play with a new little friend.  So she’d try to jump on top of her and eat her leg or ear a bit.  Haha!  And I think Miss Ellie was just happy to be out of a cage, and looking to roam.  We’d let them see each other for short spurts, and then separate them again.  Until one morning they chased each other and wrestled and more chasing and pouncing and even more chasing.  It was exhausting to watch! Actually, exhausting for them as well.  They both snuggled up to each other and had a HUGE nap. Then they were best buds.  After 2 months now if one of them meows – the other one runs to see what the problem is.  They eat together.  Drink together.  Nap together (if the mood arises).  And still have not grown out of using the bathroom together.  I may be a bit biased – but they are awfully darn cute!

Awww….just look at my babies!!!  While this was a bit of a personal post today – I ALWAYS enjoy adding a pet to any family or children’s session.  Currently booking for summer/fall 2018.  Please follow along on Facebook or Twitter to keep up with any and all news K Photo and Design.  I look forward to hearing from you!

2017 brought me many old, and some new friends.  Love me some new baby smell!! And also my Fall mini sessions were a big hit!  Beautiful weather!!  As a bonus,  I just love catching up with these people every year.  The kids grow so quickly!!  And of course, if I can convince my own children to get in front of my camera – I’m winning!    OH!  And let’s not forget – in 2017 I managed to launch my new website!  If anyone knows my technical abilities…this was a HUGE accomplishment!  Haha!  Anyways, it looks like it’s about time to welcome 2018!!  Here are a few of my fave photos from this past year.  If you see yourself – let me know!!

So many cuties in one post!!!  Of course, please feel free to follow me on Facebook or Twitter to keep up with what’s going on at K Photo and Design.  And if you feel so inclined, you can also check out my new website: www.k-photo.ca

So fun to see a family year after year…and in this case, every second year. Haha!  A lot has changed since 2014!  (And definitely since 2012!!)  This little guy, still full of energy – but the stories he can tell.  What a funny guy!!  We picked the perfect day for photos though.  After a cold spell, it was nice that it had warmed up a bit.  We walked around for a few different locations at the Arboretum.  But when I told this little guy we were going to go on an adventure through the forest – you should have seen his eyes sparkle!  He started in on this story about his favourite show, Ranger Rob.  We hiked up this little trail, and he was as happy as anything guiding us along.  Such a fun bunch!! Last month we said goodbye to our dear old kitty.  I must admit, the house seems a little empty without her.  I could always count on her to lay in front of the kitchen cupboards when I was trying to put the dishes away.  She would not get up for anything!! (Well…except treats).  I would slide her across the floor with my foot….and then slide her back to her preferred spot when I was finished.  She was also the only cat I ever knew to purr when we were petting our other cat.  Haha!  She was special…that’s for sure!  Anyways…I have a few photos to share.

Wouldn’t it be lovely to have nothing to do without a care in the world? (Well, except when the food would appear in your bowl.) These two have classic lazy cat syndrome. They go from one resting place to another, eat, and then go back to resting. Their favourite spots include a freshly made bed, an empty box, the closet, the bathmat, or most of the time it’s the living room furniture. In fact they get quite upset when we have visitors and they get demoted to the floor (of all places!).

So these gals are the furry members of our family.  Aren’t they cute??  Have a great weekend everyone!
