I HOPE!!  Very happy to be enjoying some actual Spring-like weather.  I feel as though we have been spoiled the last few years, and now we are unable to handle a normal Spring!  But I’ll take the sunshine!  I was even able to actually get outdoors for a portrait session a few weeks ago; and can’t wait to do more.

One of my favourite things about living in Ottawa is getting to see all the Tulips.  But somehow I just never time it right.  Either I’m too early and they haven’t hardly begun to bloom – or they’re fried in our unusual warm Spring weather.  But this year I almost had it right.  Almost!  Enough for me to capture some nice colourful photos anyways. Now is the time to start thinking of booking for summer portraits.  Can’t wait to hear from you!  And of course, I wish you all a happy and safe long weekend!! Smile

I have to admit, I was a tad scared to work with these girls.  Mom and Dad were nervous because their newborn portrait session did not go very well with their first child.  (I think at this point they were anticipating the worst…heehee.)  And as I walked in the door, Mom mentions that her oldest daughter does not like having her photo taken, oh – and doesn’t like new people either!  I was pretty sure that this would be an interesting day.

But seriously, I don’t know if this session could have gone ANY better.  Big sister was smiling for the photos and LOVED holding her new baby sister.  (That one is always a gamble when working with a toddler and a new baby.)  How adorable are they?!?!  And THEN, little miss newbie was a rockstar!  Once she had a full belly, she was willing to snuggle up to anything.  Which worked well for me.  All in all, I’d give this family an A+!! There are a few things that will make for a successful newborn session.  Make sure you have a full baby.  Keep the room nice and toasty warm.  Have LOTS of patience.  And go with the flow.  If you’d like to talk about K Photo and Design photographing your new baby, please contact me while you are still pregnant.  I look forward to hearing from you!! Smile

One of my favourite parts of my job is meeting new people…well and of course taking their photos!!  This family was so fun and easy going.  You kind of have to be with two energetic little ones running around.  We were concentrating on baby girls first official portrait session, but managed to pull big brother away from his Transformers TV show long enough to snap a few cute ones.  And this gal was so funny…I think she was more interested in being OFF the set than on.  But once we got her interested in her toys she was ready to perform for us.  Just look at those big blue eyes!! Soooo cute!! Open-mouthed smile

I’m just DYING for this muck to disappear and get outside for some environmental sessions!!  If you would like to talk about booking an outdoor portrait session this Spring/Summer, please contact me to set something up.  Smile

The calendar may SAY it’s the first day of Spring…but taking a peek outside, I would say it doesn’t LOOK like Spring.  Sounds like the perfect day to round up the last of my Christmas babies.  Well, this little guy was ALMOST a Christmas baby.  Mom was scheduled for a C-section the week before Christmas because this little trouble maker was breach.  She goes in to be prepped and would you believe they tell her baby has flipped and send her home?!?!  So they played the waiting game.  And waited.  And waited.  Until finally this little turkey decided to arrive in the New Year!!  I couldn’t imagine planning for a Christmas baby, and actually having to wait until the following year!!

But I tell you, this little sweetheart was worth the wait.  He had the cutest little features, and such a pleasure to work with.  Just look at how adorable he is!! Smile

This is the second time I am meeting up with this family – and MAN do they have cute babies!!  Just look at this adorable little guy from a few years ago!  And oh how HE has changed!  Big sister is still as funny as ever.  I was trying to get her to sing a song to get the little ones happy and ready for their big shot together.  She starts singing “Heeeeey sexy ladeh!”  I laughed so hard, because that is also MY daughters favourite song at the moment.  But we did manage to get them all together.  Sitting.  At the same time.  Even if it did involve holding the TV remote control.  But you do what you gotta do.  And then the new addition to this family was ready to snooze after all that excitement and we managed to catch some really sweet photos.  I just wanted to squish his little face!! (But that is frowned upon…so I didn’t.)  Winking smile

Newborns are best photographed when they are between 5 and 10 days old.  They are sleepier at that stage and will agree to be curled up into those cute little poses.  Therefore it is BEST to book your newborn session while you are still pregnant.  If you would like to set something up for your new arrival, please contact me as soon as possible to avoid any disappointment.  I look forward to hearing from you!  Smile

What a better way to celebrate a FIRST birthday, than with ME??  Well, that’s what this little guy did.  He didn’t even mind getting dressed up for the occasion!  Seriously, one of the most smiley faces I have ever seen.  I just looked at him and he would smile! Open-mouthed smile And then we even allowed him to dive into his birthday cake.  Which is ALWAYS fun!  You never know what they’re going to do.  But this 1 year old LOVED that cake!

What I LOVE about a milestones package is the opportunity to meet up with these little munchkins 3 TIMES over the year!  It’s amazing how they change and learn new things so quickly.  Just look what this gal was doing at her 4 month session.  And while she STILL has those beautiful dark eyes I love so much….it’s amazing how her little personality is developing.  I was laughing so hard at her smiling at her own reflection.  With Mom, Dad, Gramma AND myself trying to get the smiles….who would have thought the funniest person was actually HERSELF!
