I don’t usually bring a lot of props along with me to a shoot. Usually something to sit on. A small chair. A blanket or two. Well…it just so happened that the sun was setting and the kiddies were feeling a chill in the air. I put the blanket around them as a joke. But I was unable to take it away!! They loved that silly old thing!!

This is the 10th season I have met up with this family. I can hardly believe it! But these guys always bring extra fun to the shoot. (Usually in the form of something furry.) They always say that babies and animals are the hardest thing to photograph – as they don’t always perform in the way you are hoping. But I just think they add a lot of laughs. Especially when this pup was acting as my assistant! She definitely got some great smiles from these guys.

I know what you are thinking – Christmas? Isn’t that over? Well, it is true. But I have never been one to be on time. So here we go. This year was derailed quite early on. My dad unexpectedly passed away in the Spring. We are still in shock. Our plans for the year, the holidays, Christmas seemed to be ever changing and adjusting. It was difficult to feel “Christmassy”. Which I think contributed to just sitting back and letting somethings just be late this year. Between the two kids I managed to have a Christmas newsletter written and all my baking done. That was a big help for me. And well the kitties – as long as they have a place to sleep, they’re alright.
So I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. And may it continue through the whole year! This is just a little snippet of the holiday joy of 2023.

So glad this day worked out to be the PERFECT day to host my annual mini sessions. And not only was the weather perfect – but all the kids were in great spirits. This kid cracks me up! We saw a little snake run across our path and he tries to stomp on it!! Anyways…it was a great adventure and I always love the chance to see my VIP families every year.

I can hardly believe it has been 13 years since I decided to start embark on this adventure!! I have met soooo many amazing people over the years. As I looked back over some of my photos from the past…it’s honestly CRAZY to think that some of those wee babies are now teenagers too!! Thanks guys!! You make this a really fun job.

When I was contacted to join this family for ANOTHER newborn session…I was beyond excited!! Baby number 3! AND another boy!! They definitely know how to have adorable baby boys, why stop at two? I was surprised when I met this little guy though. He looked SO much like his older brothers….but a blondie!! Such a little sweetheart. And big brothers were so pleased to help out. Well, okay – middle bro was happy to help in very short bursts. Haha! But it was all in good fun. I did manage utilize some of my new little crochet props. I felt the diaper cover and little monkey turned out quite nice. Anyways, I had trouble narrowing down a few to share…but these are the top 11. Haha! One of which is one of my favourite family photos I’ve taken to date. Aren’t they completely adorable?!?!

This Christmas seems to have snuck up out of the blue. I cannot believe it is currently sitting at +16 here in Ottawa. Definitely no snow this year!! I may wear shorts…just to say I did. Haha! But I could not let the season escape without taking note of a few of my favourite things.
I don’t know why I love these little solar dancers so much. I usually have a bunch of them in my window all year round. But decided to switch them out for a holiday variety. The reindeer is a fave!!
Hot chocolate in a Christmas mug? Could it get any better??
Normally I’m a pretty practical gal…and avoid buying stupid things. But I could NOT leave this crazy dog. He spins around so quickly that his head almost rotates all the way around. He makes me laugh so much!! Haha! And he has been named “Jingle”.
Absolutely love it when the kids bring home Christmas crafts. My son began a unit in “quilling” at school, and brought these cards home for us. Well…one of them anyways. The other he gave away.
I cannot get through December without blasting my Christmas music!! I always love discovering some new tunes. And this Walk off the Earth Christmas is a fave this year.
A Christmas mess can have a beautiful outcome!! Mmmmm…..cookies!!
