Happy New Year!!!  I know I’m running a bit late this year…but upgrading your equipment never comes easy.  I’m STILL trying to get my programs all up and running properly.  (Well, they’re running…just not how *I* like them!)

But aside from all that.  I just wanted to thank all the amazing families I had the chance to work with this year.  Being in my third year of business I met a lot of people for the second and third time.  Which was SO much fun!  I also stepped out of my comfort zone and held a day of mini sessions this past fall.  AND, happy to report it was a success.  I think it will become an annual event.  (If the weather cooperates.)

So here’s a my 2012 faves.  Hope you see yourself there!  Open-mouthed smile

What a awesome family I have to share with you today!  I met up with these guys a few weeks ago on a beautifully sunny day.  And everything just kind of unfolded from there.  They were so funny…and oh the conversations that went on!  I did managed to capture some beautiful images; and here are a few I’d like to show off.  Smile

Three years ago today my third baby was born, K Photo and Design.  I have had an amazing time meeting new people and creating great friends.  It is such a wonderful experience to see some of these babies grow from tiny little peanuts, to talkers, to walkers.  This year was the first year I’m starting to see little siblings coming into this world.  And I am so honoured to be called on again to capture these first few days.  Also a welcomed chance to catch up with these families again.  Open-mouthed smile

I’m getting a little behind in my postings because of the holidays.  But things are beginning to look normal around here - I hope!

So I met up with this family a week before Christmas.  The little newbie was 3 weeks old; and his big brother and sister just adored him.  I’m amazed he slept through some of the “love” they were giving him!  Brother and sister were so funny.  I even had them perform a little concert for me while Mom was feeding the little one.  I tried to pick a few images to show off, and then I had to weed them down again.  I just had too many faves!!  So here’s what I decided on.  Smile

Happy New Year everyone!!  What a year this has been for me!  I’ve had the opportunity to photograph many expanding bellies, lots of wee babes and a pile of families.  You can now view my work at quite a few places around the city.  3D Miracles ultrasound clinic, Ottawa Integrative Health Clinic, Hands on Health massage therapy, and now at FAB Baby Gear!  (You can also purchase newborn packages directly through them AND the packages are on their baby registry.)

Okay, I have to share some favourites from 2011!!  Open-mouthed smile

With Christmas only a few days away, I thought it might be fun to just share a few of my favourite things about the holidays.  Or perhaps it’s an excuse to avoid all the cleaning I SHOULD be doing.  All I can say, is thank goodness I am finished my shopping!!

Every year I get so excited for Christmas tree day.  Which usually turns out to be an all day decorating event.  I think that it’s awesome that we have an Incredible Hulk ornament on our tree.  And my little mouse on the roll of 35mm film (a classic).  And I love that all the Santa’s MUST go on the same branch.  (They do it to mess with me, I know it!)  And of course, my favourite are the hand-made ones that come home from school.  Red heartOrnaments

But to get into the Christmas spirit – I MUST have some good Christmas music playing!  Every year we start off our Christmas tree decorating by throwing on Kenny & Dolly’s “Once upon a Christmas”.  I listened to it every Christmas as a kid; and was so happy to find it on CD a few years ago.  Oh, and we can’t forget about great Christmas movies!  We watch the same ones almost every year.  But there are some that are definitely more favourites than others.  The kids of course love Elf, but my all time FAVOURITE is the Family Stone.  I don’t know if there could be a more perfect movie.  SmileChristmas movie and music

Perhaps I like the holidays to have the excuse to decorate things that I wouldn’t normally decorate. (Or maybe I just feel like I can get away with it better!) Open-mouthed smiletoilet paper tree

I also love my home-made stockings. The cats stockings are my favourites. Heehee. I think the kids almost are more excited about what Santa put in the cats stockings than their own!! Stockings

I love doing Christmas activities with the kids.  This year we painted ornaments (so much fun!) and constructed a little Gingerbread masterpiece.  They TOTALLY try to mess with me by putting two jellybeans of the same colour beside each other!!  Winking smileGingerbread house

It has to SMELL like Christmas too!  I admit, I LOVE Bath and Body Works.  I can spend hours in that store picking out the perfect scent.  And I settled on Mistletoe Kiss.  It’s a very fresh Christmassy smell. Holiday scents

I’ll admit it – I’m NOT much of a baker.  I’m in awe of people who whip up these amazing little treats for the holidays.  I usually end up having to make two batches because the first one messed up in some way.  Or giving up completely!  But I DO like to decorate.  This year I managed to make THREE different things, without messing any of them up.  Yay me!  I think the problem is that I’m always up for trying something new, and maybe I should stick to the tried and tested ones.  Heehee.  We’ve got decorated sugar cookies and reindeer peanut butter cookies.  (If you’re counting, I also made a peanut butter marshmallow treat (or dainties as my family always called them) – but the photo didn’t look very appetizing. Winking smile)  I had some great testers too!Christmas treats

And any excuse to put up coloured lights all over the house is good for me!  I just love the glow of our tree. SmileChristmas lights

Seems like Christmas will be here before you know it – and then over in the blink of an eye.  Take the time to enjoy it!  I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!!  I’m excited to see what 2012 brings!!  Open-mouthed smile

I thought it has been a while since I posted some cool ideas for what you can DO with those photos.  (In hopes that they are not spending their days in an envelope sitting in the back of a drawer.) Winking smile

A coffee table book is a GREAT idea when you have so many favourites you just can’t decide what to do with them.  Each book has 20 press-printed pages, hard cover with photo and is custom designed by me!  It’s fun to have a mix of colour and black & whites – even full page spreads!  The possibilities are endless!

Anytime I make a trip back to my hometown of Brandon, Manitoba, I always make sure to set aside a little time to do some photos of this family.  This gal and I have been friends since the first day of kindergarten!  (And I’ve known her hubby since we were in high school together – I won’t say how long ago that was…that will TOTALLY date myself!)  But I have been lucky enough to be their designated photographer to capture some of their most special moments.  Starting from their engagement photos and onto 3 pregnancies, 3 new babies, and several family photos later we come to summer of 2011.

I have to say it was one of my more CHALLENGING experiences.  The boys have always been such pros whenever it came to photo time.  So I knew I had NOTHING to worry about.  Winking smile  And then you throw a spunky little 1.5 year old girl into the mix…what the heck was I thinking??  She was seriously a blur for most of the shoot.  And all we could do was was laugh.  What a family!! Waaay back the beginning of July I had the opportunity to take the kiddies back to my hometown of Brandon, Manitoba.  Every visit is always so jam packed with trying to see everyone, and catch up with old friends.  Luckily I usually manage to sneak a few photos sessions in here and there.  This time I managed to get my good friend and her fabulously coordinated family together.

They are in desperate need of something nice for their walls.  I think a family portrait is just the thing for them!  (Especially since the largest photo on their wall is a photo of their CAT!!)  Don’t get me wrong, it’s a beautiful cat – and it was me that took the photo.  So I’m really not complaining.  But after having 3 beau-ti-ful children – it’s time to show them off already!  Winking smile

The summer is going by so fast!  I can’t believe it took me this long to have the chance to photograph my contest winner from the Valentine’s Day contest that I ran back…well, in February.  Winking smile  She mentioned to me that they had never had professional photos taken of their family, and they JUST had a new baby in January.  I was so glad she won, I believe EVERYONE should have a family photo whenever they can swing it.

She has the sweetest three girls.  I will never forget at our initial meeting her oldest daughter asks “Mom, can your friend stay for lunch?”  I thought it was the cutest.

I think we picked one of the hotter days to schedule the session. Luckily we got out of there before it got too hot.  But not before snapping a few cute shots of the kids, and even snuck a few family ones in there.   Check out this adorable family! Smile
