I have to admit, I was a tad scared to work with these girls.  Mom and Dad were nervous because their newborn portrait session did not go very well with their first child.  (I think at this point they were anticipating the worst…heehee.)  And as I walked in the door, Mom mentions that her oldest daughter does not like having her photo taken, oh – and doesn’t like new people either!  I was pretty sure that this would be an interesting day.

But seriously, I don’t know if this session could have gone ANY better.  Big sister was smiling for the photos and LOVED holding her new baby sister.  (That one is always a gamble when working with a toddler and a new baby.)  How adorable are they?!?!  And THEN, little miss newbie was a rockstar!  Once she had a full belly, she was willing to snuggle up to anything.  Which worked well for me.  All in all, I’d give this family an A+!! There are a few things that will make for a successful newborn session.  Make sure you have a full baby.  Keep the room nice and toasty warm.  Have LOTS of patience.  And go with the flow.  If you’d like to talk about K Photo and Design photographing your new baby, please contact me while you are still pregnant.  I look forward to hearing from you!! The calendar may SAY it’s the first day of Spring…but taking a peek outside, I would say it doesn’t LOOK like Spring.  Sounds like the perfect day to round up the last of my Christmas babies.  Well, this little guy was ALMOST a Christmas baby.  Mom was scheduled for a C-section the week before Christmas because this little trouble maker was breach.  She goes in to be prepped and would you believe they tell her baby has flipped and send her home?!?!  So they played the waiting game.  And waited.  And waited.  Until finally this little turkey decided to arrive in the New Year!!  I couldn’t imagine planning for a Christmas baby, and actually having to wait until the following year!!

But I tell you, this little sweetheart was worth the wait.  He had the cutest little features, and such a pleasure to work with.  Just look at how adorable he is!! Smile

This is the second time I am meeting up with this family – and MAN do they have cute babies!!  Just look at this adorable little guy from a few years ago!  And oh how HE has changed!  Big sister is still as funny as ever.  I was trying to get her to sing a song to get the little ones happy and ready for their big shot together.  She starts singing “Heeeeey sexy ladeh!”  I laughed so hard, because that is also MY daughters favourite song at the moment.  But we did manage to get them all together.  Sitting.  At the same time.  Even if it did involve holding the TV remote control.  But you do what you gotta do.  And then the new addition to this family was ready to snooze after all that excitement and we managed to catch some really sweet photos.  I just wanted to squish his little face!! (But that is frowned upon…so I didn’t.)  Winking smile

Newborns are best photographed when they are between 5 and 10 days old.  They are sleepier at that stage and will agree to be curled up into those cute little poses.  Therefore it is BEST to book your newborn session while you are still pregnant.  If you would like to set something up for your new arrival, please contact me as soon as possible to avoid any disappointment.  I look forward to hearing from you!  Smile

This little guy made me work hard.  But SO worth it!  He decided to arrive a little early, so we didn’t get a chance to meet up until he was about 3 weeks old.  And at this time he was quite alert (although you wouldn’t be able to tell that from these photos.  Heehee.)  If Mom was touching him, he was fine.  But the minute she let go…he’d let you know about it!  I loved his adoring looks at his parents too.  It was SO cute!  Smile

Happy New Year!!!  I know I’m running a bit late this year…but upgrading your equipment never comes easy.  I’m STILL trying to get my programs all up and running properly.  (Well, they’re running…just not how *I* like them!)

But aside from all that.  I just wanted to thank all the amazing families I had the chance to work with this year.  Being in my third year of business I met a lot of people for the second and third time.  Which was SO much fun!  I also stepped out of my comfort zone and held a day of mini sessions this past fall.  AND, happy to report it was a success.  I think it will become an annual event.  (If the weather cooperates.)

So here’s a my 2012 faves.  Hope you see yourself there!  Open-mouthed smile

So glad we managed to squeeze in mommy’s maternity session (here) before these little munchkins arrived only a week later!  Small but feisty.  That’s what I’m going to say about these boys.  I had no idea how I was going to tell them apart, as they are the first set of IDENTICAL twins I’ve photographed.  I was hoping we weren’t going to end up with all the photos of one baby, and the other one – nothing!  But it didn’t take long to recognize that there were a few differences.  Thank goodness!!  These boys are going to keep mom and dad on their toes though.  Already at only 3 weeks old they could not help but punch each other a few times!!  Disappointed smile

I was completely shocked!  And WRONG!  Sometimes I have a mild feeling as to whether a couple may be having a boy or girl, but I had such a STRONG feeling this little one would be a boy.  And in this day and age, MOST people will find out ahead of time.  So it’s unique to have to wait the whole 9 months to find out if you’re painting a room pink or blue.  When mom announced they had a girl, I almost didn’t believe them.  Check out this bump, does that not look like a boy hidden away in there??

If my job looks easy, it seriously was this day.  This gal was the sweetest little thing.  She was so sleepy and happy the whole time.  I mean, check out that smile!  Have you ever seen such a big grin??  I could go on and on about how adorable she was, but I’d rather SHOW you.  Smile

I have a really hard time NOT falling in love with these teeny little babies.  And this baby girl was no exception.  Before I even met her I was in love with her name.  Ruby was one of my own name choices (which got vetoed by my hubby)!  She was seriously the perfect little angel.  Slept all the way up until we did the family photos; had a little snack, and was ready to get back to work.  And even though she was nearing on 3 weeks old, she was still just over 6lbs!  I absolutely loved how she liked to stretch her legs out so straight.  Perhaps she’ll be an Olympic gymnast?  (Look for her in 2028!) I’ve had such a string of newborn baby boys since even before Christmas, that it was so much fun to play with a little girl for a change.  She had such a sweet little petit face, and her expressions were so funny.  I just fell in love with her!  This gal was so interested in what was going on around her, that she didn’t feel like she wanted to nap at all!  But eventually she slipped into a nice little snooze and easily became one of my most cooperative little ones.  Just look at that adorable little face!!  Open-mouthed smile
