This family was so excited to meet their little boy, as you can see in their maternity photos. And he FINALLY arrived! I couldn’t believe how alert and calm he was. I have never seen a new baby so happy to just look around at everything. He was awake for almost an hour and a half straight, and so happy! I was glad to be able to capture those big blue eyes; and oh his expressions were funny!

I woke up this morning FEELING like fall was in the air. Which of course made me want to sort through some of my photos from this summer. I came across these ones from the trip the kids and I made back to Brandon, Manitoba back in July. I just LOVE them! Well, not just the kids, but the photos too. 
I absolutely LOVE the yellow of the canola fields in the prairies. Something you don’t see out in the Ottawa area, and kind of miss.
And ALSO, it is so tough to get a natural look from these two. I swear…they are my hardest subjects!! The one of the two of them together will be big on my wall – I’ve already decided that. Which is what I recommend to everyone. If you’ve got a good shot – order it up big for your wall and enjoy it!! 
He had to put on his “shades” it was so bright out there!
And my gal had to SMELL all the flowers of course.
And since it seems as summer is over, it’s time to start thinking about fall portraits (and CHRISTMAS)! If you are interested in having fall family photos in the bright coloured leaves, it’s best to book early to ensure availability. Can’t wait to hear from you!!

I don’t think you can even IMAGINE how excited I was to be contacted by this family to photograph their new baby boy. They had been through so much to get this little guy here. (One of those true miracle kinda stories.) So I was honoured to be chosen to capture those first few weeks. He was probably the oldest newborn I have worked with at mere 15 days old. But technically he wasn’t due to be born until the end of September anyways. A wee little peanut though, and OH SO ADORABLE! 
I could have played with him all day (if he would have quit making messes on Dad!)

Happy Labour Day everyone! And how perfect is it to have a beautiful pregnant mama to show off today? 
I thought I would have to wait the loooong 9 months to find out whether this family would be bringing a boy or girl into this world. As she never found out what she was having for her first two pregnancies. But something made them want to find out this time around. And what a surprise it was when they found out it was going to be a little girl! I asked her oldest boy if he had names picked out for his baby sister. He told me he did, but his mom didn’t like any of them. Heehee. So we’ll have to wait and see what they decide for this little one. Although it won’t be too much longer! I can’t wait!!

Everyone has had a bad family photo at least ONCE in their lives. Being a photographer myself, I usually am required to place my camera on a tripod, set the timer and make the mad dash to be in the photo. I have ended up with a few gems, but more often than not, I get a complete family photo FAIL!
Oh dear! There are so many things wrong with this photo it isn’t even funny! Well, maybe a LITTLE funny. 
So I have decided to run a contest for people who have had the same issues capturing that awesome family photo.
All you need to do is submit your BAD family photo to me via email at kim@k-photo.ca. (Let’s keep this PG – no nudity or vulgar images please!) You will have until September 15th, 2011 to email me your bad family photos. I will upload them to my facebook fan page and you and all your friends and relatives can vote on which family is in most NEED of a great family photo by LIKING the particular photo.
