I have been photographing this family for many years. They are always the first appointment of my day for many reasons. It started because we were working around nap times, then it was the kids weekend activities. I have to say that was the first time we had gotten together after 11am. Perhaps because the young people were full-on teenagers (or entering those years very soon) they value the sleep in a little more. Just look how cute these guys are!!

No time like the present to catch up on my blogging!! As always, feel free to contact me if you are interested in setting up your own family photo date. Or if you wish to be added to the contact list for the annual K Photo fall mini sessions.

I’m getting a bit behind on posting lately. This is from my annual fall mini sessions back in October. If you can remember – there was torrential rainstorms we were scheduling in-between. Just an added obstacle to an already challenging year. Anyways…so happy this family was able to come out again. I have seen these guys every year since this little guy was born. I think there is a bit of a language barrier – because I know he is very French. And I try my best…but it’s not that great. Haha! Half the time he looks at me like I’m crazy. (Which may or may not be true.) But I’m glad it all worked out in the end. How cute is this family?!?!

There is still plenty of nice white snow out there if you are thinking of a wintery scene for your next family photo session. And otherwise – spring/summer is on the way. I have placed a pause on indoor photography (which includes newborns) and am focusing on outdoor sessions. Please contact me if you would like to talk about YOUR next session. info@k-photo.ca

I have not seen this bunch since 2014 (I checked my records!) The kids have grown SO MUCH!! So much so – from afar I thought mom was one of the kids. A little shy to warm up – but in reality, have not changed at all. It was great to see these guys after all this time. (These kiddies were also the first set of twins I had photographed as newborns). The rain stayed away long enough to capture these adorable photos – even though I’m pretty sure they were sloshing around in their shoes by the end.

These are true siblings. I asked them to put their arms around each other. I don’t know if they are terrible fond of “touching”. Haha!

I feel terribly lucky to have met up with all the families this fall for my annual mini sessions. I am currently only accepting outdoor portrait sessions. If you would like to book something – please contact me: info@k-photo.ca

Stay safe out there!!!

So happy to see this gang again! It had been a few years now…with schedules, covid, etc. The rain was threatening to start up at any point; so we had to make this count. And that they did! This crew is always so funny with their terrible dad jokes and stories. I always have a good time. (I think the photos speak for themselves.)

Currently booking outdoor family/children photos only. Please contact me at info@k-photo.ca for more information.

So I am pretty darn proud of my gal for growing and growing that big mop of hair until she was able to donate a large chunk for cancer wigs.  14 inches, to be exact.  And if you can imagine…it only took her 2.5 years to do it!  If only MY hair would grow that quickly.  We visited The Hair Bar in Kanata for our post-donation haircut.  The stylists there are all so awesome.  Her locks of hair were sent off to Pantene Beautiful Lengths for the second time.  She was very happy to have a shorter cut for the summer.  And has already been talking about when she can donate AGAIN.

Currently booking outdoor Fall family sessions, and also annual mini sessions!  As always, please follow along on my Facebook or Twitter to keep up with current news.  Or feel free to sign up for my mailing list on my website.  Have questions?  Please ask!!  I can’t wait to hear from you!

Every year I attempt to take the kids out for some fall photos so we can send them off in our Christmas cards, for gifts and all that fun stuff.  And every year it gets a little more difficult. Unfortunately they usually get left to the last minute when it’s cold, and there are no coloured leaves.  But that’s the way it is.  I was happy with this years bunch though.  But for anyone that thinks that photographers must have a ridiculous amount of awesome photos of their kids….think again.  These outtakes speak for themselves. And yes, I asked her to push her glasses up – that’s what I got.

Still taking advantage of the last little bit of Fall.  Please contact me to book your session: info@k-photo.ca.  And of course, keep up with what’s going on by following K Photo and Design on Facebook or Twitter!

A bit of a personal post today.  But this fall my gal made the decision that she wanted to chop off her hair and donate it to make wigs for cancer patients. I think she was a bit tired of me combing through the knots…haha!  But still, a pretty good deed I thought.  When she came to me with this idea; I told her to sleep on it.  She’d been growing that mop for a while now; and it would definitely take a while for it to grow back.  I needed to make sure she had thought this all through.  But every day she came to me “Mom, did you make the appointment yet?”  (I think it was ME that was having more of a problem with this plan than she was.  She had her mind made up!)  So I made the appointment.  We went to The Hair Bar in Kanata.  They were AMAZING!  My daughter said she felt like a movie star.  Haha!  (She could definitely get used to being pampered.)  So off it went – all 13 inches of it!  And somehow she came out looking about 5 years older!!  I did NOT sign up for that!  Haha!   She did love her new haircut.  And today, loves it the same.  Her ponytail was sent off to Pantene Beautiful Lengths.  Super easy to do.  (We just received a letter of thanks yesterday.)  The Canadian Cancer Society will then in turn give these real hair wigs out to women going through cancer treatments that would otherwise not be able to afford something like that.

My gal was very proud to have made a contribution.  But has been on the lookout to see if she can see anyone that might be wearing her hair. Winking smile

It’s been a few years since I’ve seen these cuties.  But my oh my…how they have changed from their newbie and even their one year sessions!! They were so cute and chatty.  I love hearing kids little stories.  They have such a neat perspective on the world.  And they always keep me laughing!!   Smile

I was packing up some of the kids old books just last week and came across one of their little board books about a monkey, called HUG.  Well, I guess it was fresh in my mind when I saw this image.  I just adore these little munchkins!! And since I’ve made these fall mini sessions an annual thing…Mom and Dad find an excuse for me to see them at LEAST once a year.  They’ve changed so much from just last yearSmile

You’d think as a photographer that you would have a million and one photos of your own kids.  Well, that’s somewhat true.  But to actually get those nice classic “portraits”, takes a little effort.  I attempt to take the kiddies out at least once a year, although it is getting more and more difficult.  I found this beautiful patch of purple flowers and just KNEW I had to take my gal there.  Funny enough, my son – who HATES having his photo taken…was a tad jealous of this situation.  So I made sure to find an EQUALLY cool place to take him for his own portraits.  And well…I’m VERY excited to share the results – because it just love ‘em to death! Happy summer everyone!! Open-mouthed smile
