This is the 10th season I have met up with this family. I can hardly believe it! But these guys always bring extra fun to the shoot. (Usually in the form of something furry.) They always say that babies and animals are the hardest thing to photograph – as they don’t always perform in the way you are hoping. But I just think they add a lot of laughs. Especially when this pup was acting as my assistant! She definitely got some great smiles from these guys.

Now booking for summer 2024. If you wish to add in your furry friend to a family session – just ask! I can usually accommodate your requests.

It’s pretty exciting – I am just finishing up this family’s newborn order! Stay tuned for more adorable photos. But back in the fall…before this little guy made his appearance – they were a family of 3. And how cute are they? I’m just gonna get right to it. Just a little selection to share with you today.

Send me a message if you’re looking for family photos.

I am WAAAAAY behind in posting anything. But today seems like a good day as any to get back into it. Fall mini sessions worked out perfectly! The weather is always a stressful addition to the planning. We were treated to just enough sun to make me happy. And ended up with a quick rainstorm right at lunch time. Then good to go for the afternoon. You couldn’t have asked for better, really. And just look at the result!

Wishing you a happy sunny day!! Please get in touch with me if you are looking to capture your family in a nice set of photographs.

I know what you are thinking – Christmas? Isn’t that over? Well, it is true. But I have never been one to be on time. So here we go. This year was derailed quite early on. My dad unexpectedly passed away in the Spring. We are still in shock. Our plans for the year, the holidays, Christmas seemed to be ever changing and adjusting. It was difficult to feel “Christmassy”. Which I think contributed to just sitting back and letting somethings just be late this year. Between the two kids I managed to have a Christmas newsletter written and all my baking done. That was a big help for me. And well the kitties – as long as they have a place to sleep, they’re alright.

So I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. And may it continue through the whole year! This is just a little snippet of the holiday joy of 2023.

Miss Ellie quite enjoys the Christmas lights. She can usually be found under the tree napping – or this comfy spot on the couch, enjoying the glow.
Ophelia thought Grandma made this pillow just for her. But who are we to tell her otherwise?
Does anyone remember these Christmas albums? I am quickly discovering that all my favourite Christmas songs are being removed from Spotify. It might be time to go back to our CD and cassette collections. These 3 albums had my most loved Christmas tunes.
We have been lucky to take in a holiday themed play for the last 3 years. Even better when one of your extended family members is in the cast! What an amazing show. And so lucky a good chunk of our family were able to attend. We took up nearly a whole row in the theatre!
It wouldn’t be the Christmas season without our semi-annual trip to the dentist! I always love the HUMONGOUS poinsettia. And the sleigh of toothpaste was a nice touch.
We watched this holiday movie this year. It was actually pretty ridiculous. But super fun. Not for young children.
E’s “awesome” cookies he made. Our holiday chalkboard with a “rockin’ around the Christmas tree” drawing. It so silly, but this is one of my new favourite decorations. It’s a gift tag from last year that I framed. So simple – but it looked so cute! And a Christmas Eve game of Canadian headbands. Tuques and reindeer antlers – I guess that is what Canadian’s are made of?
And Christmas would not be complete without those twinkly lights.

Wishing you all a happy, healthy 2024!

No time like the present to catch up on my fall mini session blogging! As I sit at my desk with talks of this “polar vortex” on its way – I am reminded of those beautiful, warm fall days. I find it very satisfying to crunch those fall leaves while wearing flip-flops. Haha! Anyways, I am so happy that this session went forward as it did. It’s not easy when attempting to coordinate around kids activities. And then we were thrown for a loop when one of the clan got the part in the production they auditioned for! Yay!! I think I have met up with this lovely group every year since before their first baby was born. That is A LOT of smiles!! But after 12 years of photos…this is hands down my FAVOURITE photo of mom and dad. Aren’t these two just super adorable??

I hope you enjoyed a look at some warmer days. If you are interested in booking your very own family portrait session – my camera works 12 months of the year. Please send me a message: info@k-photo.ca

In looking back at the photos taken in 2022 – I realize that I didn’t actually meet up with many families! But I did see a lot of my VIP’s and even met a new clan! My crew was very busy with renovations and our garden this year and we took some much needed time at a cottage in Quebec over the summer. I guess that is where the time went! A few favourites to share with you guys:

Well that’s it for 2022!! Wishing you all a very happy, healthy NEW YEAR! And remember – you don’t have to wait until the fall to book a portrait session. My camera works year round!! info@k-photo.ca

Since we are still in the “celebration period”, I feel it is okay to post this a few days after the big day. This season I was thrown a bit of a curveball when we had a surprise renovation beginning December 14th! And then the big snowstorm changed our plans for this year as well. Regardless – I hope you all had the merriest of holiday seasons!

I LOVE Christmas lights!! But we were doomed from the beginning of December. The star did not light up. But I love it – and was not ready to give it up just yet. So we replaced the non-working 10 light strand with 35 teeny lights. It glows 85% more now! (Someone would say, if they understood fancy math equations.)
This is THEE Christmas song this year.
There are so many awesome things about this photo. I LOVE holiday birds. PLUS, an excuse to decorate my bathroom. Just look at that face! He’s ready for a Canadian winter.
When your cousins are in a play – you go see it! What an awesome night out. Such a funny show. And the sets were beyond amazing. #supportlocal
We purchased a new patio door the end of June and it has been on back-order since then. We didn’t think it would be happening until the Spring/Summer 2023. This was not the case. December 14th it went in! Forcing us to clear out our living room as much as possible. The kids ate their meals with the Christmas tree in the kitchen. After all was done, we we were left with this lovely patchwork of putty, new wall and trim that all needed painted. We knew this would not be happening before Christmas – so I came up with a creative way to cover some of the mess. (Introducing our “elf family” banner.)
With tree back in the living room – we were able to add our newest Christmas ornament. This little guy represents our time at the cottage this summer. I love his little fish on the line!
This guy was happy when this day arrived! (He even got one of his grades Christmas morning!)
Snowed in for Christmas eve? No problem!! We ate treats and played games. The Jackbox TV even had holiday themed rounds! #RELIGION
The kitties: Christmas morning vs Christmas night.
Every year we make a holiday drink. This year it was a Frosty the Snowman cocktail. And while the turkey, stuffing and everything else was AMAZING (I cannot take credit – because my husband does it all!). I have no photos to show for it because this drink was mighty strong! Haha! I soberly took these lovely photos before it all went down. #tipsyholiday

As I write with a cat sitting on my head – I just wanted to quickly wish you all a very Merry Christmas and an enjoyable holiday season all around.

So fun when my families bring things for me to play with to their portrait sessions. This is my 2nd year meeting with this fluffy gal. She is SO FUNNY. And definitely not an easy subject as she would prefer to face her family than towards me at all. But we made it work. (Kitty had to stay home this year – it’s just too cold in the Fall.)

If you wish to add any four-legged family members to your portrait sessions – don’t forget to mention it during our planning meeting. Now booking for 2023!

I LOVE seeing the same families every Fall. Getting to catch up with what is going on…seeing the kids grow from session to session. But what is equally as fun – is meeting a NEW family! These guys contacted me out of the blue (as I had not even had a chance to advertise the mini sessions yet!) This left me so confused. Turns out it was a referral from one (or two) of my VIP families. The kids were GREAT! Which is surprising because there was a bit of a language barrier. They didn’t speak English; and I don’t really speak French. But we made our way through with a few words and a lot of miming. It seemed to work out – because just look at those adorable faces!!

Always booking for outdoor family photos. Please contact me if you are interested info@k-photo.ca

So glad this day worked out to be the PERFECT day to host my annual mini sessions. And not only was the weather perfect – but all the kids were in great spirits. This kid cracks me up! We saw a little snake run across our path and he tries to stomp on it!! Anyways…it was a great adventure and I always love the chance to see my VIP families every year.

Things have been pretty quiet over at K PHOTO AND DESIGN – but rest assured, I am always ready to photograph your growing family and small children in an outdoor environment. I have put a pause on all newborn photography for the time being. Please contact me at info@k-photo.ca to schedule your next portrait session. Thank you to everyone for their support over the years! Stay safe guys!
