Hard to believe that 2017 is right around the corner.  So I just wanted to look at some of the amazing people I have met, and also reunited with over this past year.  I was lucky enough to be invited to capture a baptism and also a 90th birthday party.  My fall mini sessions are always a fave.  I love catching up with families I haven’t seen in a while.  And the kids ALWAYS have amazing stories for me.  Haha!  Smile  So here are a few of my most loved photos from 2016…if you see yourself – let me know! Winking smile

Elfing around

I never know what I’ll find dangling from my tree branch!

xmas music

I am absolutely loving this Christmas song by Maroon 5 this year!

xmas bathroom

Always a big joke in our family.  But I even love decorating my bathroom decor!!

Gift of Lights

So excited that the Gift of Lights display has hit Ottawa this year.  It was awesome!!

Office Christmas Party

Nothing better than seeing a good movie I think.

Fresh snow

Fresh snow is always welcomed around this time of year.

xmas baking

I always tend to leave the baking until the last minute.  And this year I decided to try something new.  Not sure how it tastes…but it looks pretty cute!  Haha!

Wishing you all a happy holiday!!

Apparently a lot can happen in 5 years.  I did not realize it had been THAT long since I last met up with this family.  But so happy we did!!  I mean, how adorable are these gals??  And we managed to capture these nice smiles in the midst of a “fairy attack”.  Haha!  Perhaps it was the crew I had just before them that had woken up all the little bugs, maybe the sun, or the fact that the temperature had warmed up by then…but it was CRAZY!!  They were all little troopers though.  Mom kept telling them they were little fairies.  And it seemed to work!  Because we ended up with these amazingly cute photos!! Smile

I know I’m in for a fun time when I book a family session with this family.  A lot has changed since last year.  Or even the year before!  Little girl comes right up to me and introduces herself (as though we’ve never met).  But not to be outdone by her brother, he ALSO had to introduce himself.  So she starts showing me her pretty bracelet she’s wearing.  Boy jumps right in and shows off that HE is wearing a sweater!  Haha!  What little kooks!!  By the end of the session things got a bit goofy.  I know, shocking!  We were trying to keep the kids happy and interested by giving them these beautiful red leaves to hold onto for the photo.  They were both shaking their leaves as happy as can be.  But little boy kept shaking the leaf right in front of his face.  Which was not the BEST idea from a photographer’s perspective.  So I asked him if he could shake his leaf down by his side – and proceeded to demonstrate for him.  So he agrees he will do that and walks right over to me and begins to shake his leaf right beside me – which TECHNICALLY is exactly what I told him to do!!  Haha!  What a kid!!  I honestly have never dealt with a small child who follows direction as well as he did.  Literally.  Smile

So fun to see a family year after year…and in this case, every second year. Haha!  A lot has changed since 2014!  (And definitely since 2012!!)  This little guy, still full of energy – but the stories he can tell.  What a funny guy!!  We picked the perfect day for photos though.  After a cold spell, it was nice that it had warmed up a bit.  We walked around for a few different locations at the Arboretum.  But when I told this little guy we were going to go on an adventure through the forest – you should have seen his eyes sparkle!  He started in on this story about his favourite show, Ranger Rob.  We hiked up this little trail, and he was as happy as anything guiding us along.  Such a fun bunch!! It’s incredible how big these kids are getting!! They have changed so much in only a year.  You can start to see their little goofy personalities more and more.  I laughed so hard when they were fighting over what they wanted to sit on.  Of course, they chose the SAME seat.  So the little girl distracts her brother with something, and then takes her spot on the box that she wanted all along.  Haha!  She knows how this sibling thing works. Every year I attempt to take the kids out for some fall photos so we can send them off in our Christmas cards, for gifts and all that fun stuff.  And every year it gets a little more difficult. Unfortunately they usually get left to the last minute when it’s cold, and there are no coloured leaves.  But that’s the way it is.  I was happy with this years bunch though.  But for anyone that thinks that photographers must have a ridiculous amount of awesome photos of their kids….think again.  These outtakes speak for themselves. Smile with tongue out

And yes, I asked her to push her glasses up – that’s what I got.

Still taking advantage of the last little bit of Fall.  Please contact me to book your session: info@k-photo.ca.  And of course, keep up with what’s going on by following K Photo and Design on Facebook or Twitter!

So happy to catch up with these guys again. The kids are getting SO BIG!! Time flies so quickly; it’s not even funny.  So the kids definitely gave us a run for the money.  Because of all the rainy days this fall, this was the first time they had been outside in a few days.  They thought they’d take advantage of this and ran and ran and ran.  Until we finally caught up with them and had them sit for two seconds.  And then they were off again!  I don’t blame them – it was such a beautiful day!!

A bit of bad weather was not going to stop this little guy from his day of baptism.  This is my SECOND time meeting up with this family. Just last year big sis had her day.  Now she is being very helpful in getting her brother ready to go.  And what a big help she was!  Shoes stayed on!!  A few quick photos and off to the church to meet up with family and friends for the ceremony.  I loved seeing all the familiar faces – and some new ones as well!  And this cutie…SO good throughout the whole thing.  He just wanted to touch EVERYTHING!!  All I have to say is thank goodness for fake candles!  Smile

So I looked it up…apparently the traditional 5th anniversary gift is wood. How appropriate to have your photos taken in the woods!!  We took a trip down to the lovely Mackenzie King Estate in Gatineau.  Although it was busy, (definitely a hot spot for weddings) – we found some amazing little spots to capture some fun photos to mark the occasion.  Seriously couldn’t have asked for a better day!  And at one point we managed to become one of the tourist attractions.  Everyone wanted to stop by to read their anniversary sign. Some came with marital advice. Haha! Winking smile
